Grants for Masters and PhD Students and Early-career Stage Researchers from Developing Economies to Attend INTERACT 2025
The 20th edition of the INTERACT Conference on Human Computer Interaction, organized by IFIP Technical Committee 13 (IFIP TC13, Human Computer Interaction), is scheduled to take place in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, from 8 to 12 September 2025 (see https://interact2025.org/).
IFIP TC13 and the IFIP Digital Equity Committee have made funds available to partially support qualifying Masters and PhD students and early-stage researchers from developing countries to attend the Conference in-person if they are (co)authoring and presenting a paper at the main INTERACT 2025 Conference (i.e., excluding workshop papers).
Grant Eligibility
Must be registered as a Masters or PhD student or be an early-career stage researcher (early-career stage researchers are individuals currently involved in research and who received their PhDs after 1 September 2022 and who do not have a permanent contract with a company/university).
Must be the author/co-author and presenter of a research paper accepted for the main INTERACT 2025 Conference.
The grantees are required to attend the entire INTERACT 2025 Conference week (single day or partial attendance would lead to the cancelation of the grant).
Grantees may be asked by the Conference Organizers to assist with some tasks during the Conference.
Selection Criteria
The grants will be allocated to Masters and PhD students and early-career stage researchers, with accepted contributions, coming from and living in developing economies, on a needs basis. In similar situations, priority will be given to women, people with disabilities and minority groups.
What the Grant will Cover
Free student registration for the conference and participation in workshops and/or tutorials at no cost.
The grantees attending INTERACT 2025 in person will be reimbursed for expenses related to travel (to Belo Horizonte) and accommodation (in Belo Horizonte for the duration of the Conference) to a maximum of €750 in total (proportionally allocated depending on distance to be travelled).
No other expenses will be reimbursed.
Application Procedure
Applications should be sent to the Grants Committee (grants@ifip-tc13.org) by 1 July 2025. Applications must include:
A one-page CV of the applicant.
A copy of the acceptance of a contribution to INTERACT 2025 (co)authored by the applicant.
A letter of support from the doctoral or masters degree supervisor (for students) or the head of the research group (for early-career stage researchers), indicating whether or not the candidate will receive any other funds to attend the Conference and the amount of such funds (note that these IFIP grants are compatible with partial support from other institutions). This letter must specify the type of contract/scholarship that links the student/early-career stage researcher with the institution, and must be sent directly by the signatory to the IFIP TC13 Grants Committee (grants@ifip-tc13.org)
Important dates
Applications must be submitted by latest 1 July 2025.
Notification of results: 8 July 2025.
Payment of Grants
Due to administrative restrictions, all grants will be paid after the conference in Belo Horizonte by bank transfer:
Grantees will need to complete a claim form and provide invoices/receipts for travel and accommodation, as well as proof of registration.
Grantees will be required to provide a bank account number valid for international bank transfers. No cash payments will be made.
Therefore, grantees will be responsible for arranging and paying their full costs of the travel to and accommodation in Belo Horizonte in advance.

Possible impact on their career.
Pictures of participation.
